MillRiver's acclaimed debut artist, LAURA WOOD, has recently completed her second CD "South Station Slide" that features captivating vocals and lyrics with a stunning and innovative blend of 6- and 12-string guitar, electric viola, violin, mandolin, keyboards and percussion. Guest performers include well-known folk/jazz artist Billy Novick (of Guy Van Duser Duo) and virtuoso instrumentalists (Chris Devine and Geoffrey Gee. Recorded at nationally recognized Signature Sounds Recording Studio in Palmer, MA, this CD promises to bring LAURA WOOD the recognition she has earned as a producer, arranger, singer, songwriter, guitarist and percussionist.

In November 2000, Laura was chosen to perform at the groundbreaking Rockrgrl Music Conference in Seattle, WA that featured artists Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls and Courtney Love. Her CD has already received excellent reviews (see December 14th, 2000 "CD WORTH THE WAIT" by John Stifler) and has been requested by national and international radio stations. Her Iron Horse CD Release Party in Northampton, MA on December 19th, 2000 was a huge success and she was invited back for an encore performance. "The sound of Laura Wood's Acoustic Rock Band is as large and lovely as an orchestral tidal wave" said one attendee. Holly Figueroa of Indiegrrl says "This has to be one of the best Indie releases of 2001". Others are saying "I keep listening to it over and over..."

CURRENT NEWS: In January of 2001, LAURA was one of ten artists chosen to form the Indiegrrl Records Cooperative label out of Seattle, WA and now distributed by Shortly thereafter she was endorsed as a Takamine Guitar12-string artist. In August of 2001, LAURA was chosen to be a GuitarGirls finalist out of hundreds of entries. Her song entitled "I am Your Lover" was also chosen to be on the first GuitarGirls CD compilation out of Skip Saylor's studio in Los Angeles, CA, known for mixing and recording k.d. lang, Madonna, Santana, Michael Jackson, and Elton John.
